Located in the High Arctic settlement of Kullorsuaq in north-western Greenland, the project responds to a critical need for safe, supportive, and multifunctional spaces for children, youth, and the wider community.

In a context defined by extreme climate, limited resources, and strong ties to landscape and culture, the challenge was to create a building that could support everyday life while minimising impact on the fragile terrain.

BIOSIS developed a climate-driven, low-impact community building that brings together daycare, youth club, community facilities, and emergency housing within a single, cohesive structure. Elevated on pillars and constructed primarily in timber, the building avoids excavation and blasting, allowing rain and meltwater to flow naturally beneath it and preserving the existing landscape. The circular layout forms a sheltered courtyard, protecting outdoor spaces from harsh Arctic winds while creating a safe and communal heart for play, gathering, and daily activity.
